The name Zetachem has always been associated with consistency, quality and innovation. In 1994 Zetachem was awarded ISO 9002 and currently as Protea Chemicals Water holds ISO 9001:2008 Certification and OHSAS 18001.
Under Kevin’s leadership, Zetachem pioneered the introduction of NSF into South Africa in the year 2000, being the first South African drinking water additive manufacturer to be awarded NSF Certification for a range of drinking water additives.
NSF approval guarantees that the products carrying NSF Certification are manufactured to a consistently high international drinking water standard.

NSF is an independant non-profit organization with programmes and services relating to public health safety and enviromental quality. NSF is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the Dutch Council for Accreditation (RvA). NSF also serves as a Collaborative Centre on Drinking Water for the World Health Organization (WHO) and is recognised by the WHO as being a world leader in the area of drinking water safety and sanitation.
Dedicated Quality Assurance Lab
NSF approval necessitated the installation of sophisticated new GC and HPLC equipment into the quality assurance system, to ensure that Zetachem was able to adhere to stringent NSF requirements. The equipment, located in it’s own self contained laboratory, was needed to facilitate the incorporation of NSF testing requirements into the overall ISO 9002 quality assurance system. The NSF testing requirements would therefore not only be audited annually by NSF inspectors, but will also be checked biannually by ISO 9002 auditors.
